How to Find and Apply for All UA Scholarships (for applicants)
Go to scholarshipuniverse.arizona.edu to submit a profile of yourself. The website will then sort through possible scholarships and send you a list of scholarships relevant to you. You cannot review details of scholarships until you have submitted the profile - this is a requirement of the University of Arizona Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, not one by UARA.

Applications Process
Applicants should apply at the UA Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid scholarships section. Scholarship application deadlines, currently April 30, are set by the University of Arizona Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. More complete information is available on the Scholarships Office website (above). Find the scholarships by searching for Yall or Rehm in the above website search box (top right of page).

Selection Process
The UARA Scholarship Committee shall review applications provided by the UA Foundation (through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid). Specific criteria and type of award are listed under each source below.

Irving Yall Book Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
In 1998 Jency Houser Yall gave a sizable donation in the name of her husband, Irving Yall. These funds  have provided a scholarship each year to an undergraduate student (freshman or sophomore) that is an Arizona resident with demonstrated financial need for assistance in purchasing textbooks. It is funded by the Irving Yall Endowment held in the University of Arizona Foundation.

Tom Rehm Graduate Scholarship
Professor Emeritus Dr. Thomas R. Rehm funded this scholarship for a graduate student who is admitted to a graduate program and who is pursuing studies related to aging issues.  Preference is given to Arizona residents. There is an option for renewal provided a minimum 3.5 GPA is maintained. A Master's student may receive the award for up to two years; a Doctoral student may receive the award for up to three years. It is funded by the UARA T. R. Rehm Graduate Scholarship Endowment held in the University of Arizona Foundation.

The Van Ort UARA Undergraduate Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2013 by Dr. Suzanne Van Ort, UA College of Nursing Dean Emerita and UARA Past President. It is awarded annually to an upper division (junior or senior) undergraduate student who is enrolled full time in a health-related major at the UA. The student should have an academic emphasis and career focus on healthy adult aging. It is funded by the UARA Van Ort Scholarship Endowment held in the University of Arizona Foundation.

General Guidelines for Scholarship Administration
Graduate Scholarship recipients shall be featured annually in one issue of UARA Retiree News (UARA Newsletter), and recipients shall be invited as UARA guests to one UARA luncheon.

Scholarship funds shall be held by the University of Arizona Foundation to ensure that contributions are tax deductible.

Contributions
Retirees are encouraged to make contributions to any of the funds. The contributions should be made payable to the University of Arizona Foundation, specifying either the UARA Irving Yall Book Scholarship Endowment, the UARA T. R. Rehm Graduate Scholarship Endowment, or the Van Ort UARA Undergraduate Scholarship. Gifts may be mailed to UARA Treasurer, University of Arizona Retirees Association. P.O. Box 42391, Tucson, AZ 85733 or they may be made online at UA Foundation (on right column - under "Giving Search" for YALL, VAN ORT, or REHM, then complete the form). This is a convenient way to contribute online.

The UARA shall create opportunities for contributions to UARA scholarship funds (UARA Retiree News, president's letter, contribution forms available at luncheons and other events as appropriate). Scholarship information shall be posted on the UARA website and at the UA Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
